1 day to shoot a Documentary eBook of the most consequential bi-election in years, that could exit the UK’s Prime Minister.
That was the plan. What could go wrong you ask? Well, the polling authority for Makerfield – a constituency of around 40,000 people in the north-west – rejected my press pass application for the electoral count due to demand from the major media. The political parties refused to tell me where their candidates would be canvassing for security reasons. The constituency had quickly become distrusting and hateful of journalists and photographers. So, a warm welcome awaited me.
In the final event, the political party Campaigners became my photographic gold. Not the candidates, not the authorities, not the party leaders, not even the voters. 3 main parties – Labour, Reform UK, Restore – had each decided to throw everything they had at winning. Campaigners arrived from all parts of the UK particularly for the final day of electioneering – my 1 day of shooting.
