Since the arrival of the internet in the 1990s, it’s been happening. Austerity from 2008 made it worse. Covid placed more nails in its coffin. Now taxes, a weakening economy, global tariff tensions and wars have further accelerated its downward spiral. Welcome to the slow-motion death of our High Streets.  As both a Documentary and Street photographer, this was a subject I just had to do.

 

Most of the images were taken in 2026. However, to capture the extent of the decline, I found some images starting from 2016 that helped tell the story with a timeline component. So, 10 years of images, over 35 High Streets and many stressful encounters are my source materials for this Documentary eBook.
