People get angry when those ideas and values they hold dear are threatened. Where that threat is large and existential, then people seek the power of collective action to protest – a collective Voice. Whether the Voice is from one or many, as a Documentary photographer I am drawn to capture people’s protesting emotions and narrative like a moth to a lamp.
The last few years has seen a step change in everyday life from the global disruption of wars, to harsh economic realities, to environmental pressures. Within the consequent transformation of the political landscape, groups and individuals have risen to find their Voice and enjoy the freedom of speech. I managed to capture twelve expressions of protest across a political and social spectrum.
